Privacy Policy

How HackerOnStreet collects, protects, and never sells personal data — covering GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, cookies, and advertising.

Plain-language summary

HackerOnStreet Systems (“we”, “us”) operates https://hackeronstreet.com. We publish educational cybersecurity content, optional student/lab features, and may show Google AdSense ads.

We encrypt data in transit (HTTPS/TLS). We do not sell personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. We respect your rights under GDPR (EEA/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), and similar rules.

Who is responsible

HackerOnStreet Systems is the controller for personal data collected through this website.

Privacy requests: privacy@hackeronstreet.com. General contact: contact@hackeronstreet.com.

Data we collect

We collect only what is needed to run the site, keep it secure, and (where you choose) provide accounts or respond to messages.

  • Contact & forms: name/alias, email, message content you send (Contact, bug reports, privacy requests).
  • Accounts (Studio / Student Lab when used): email, username, authentication credentials (stored hashed), session cookies, optional profile fields you provide.
  • Technical & security logs: IP address, user-agent, timestamps, approximate region, request path, error diagnostics — used to prevent abuse and fix outages.
  • Cookies & similar tech: essential session cookies; optional analytics/advertising cookies (see Cookies Policy and consent banner).
  • Advertising (Google AdSense): Google may process device identifiers, cookie IDs, and page URL data to serve and measure ads under Google’s policies when ads are enabled.

How we use data

We use personal data to:

  • Provide and improve content, labs, and site features.
  • Authenticate users, protect accounts, and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Respond to support, privacy, and security reports.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms.
  • Show advertising (via Google AdSense) and measure ad performance, subject to your consent choices where required.

Advertising & Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-7237161974747534) and may show display or multiplex/matched-content units on public pages. Google and its partners may set or read cookies and use advertising identifiers as described in Google’s Advertising / Privacy policies.

You can manage ad personalization via Google Ad Settings and, where shown, our cookie consent controls. Rejecting non-essential cookies limits personalized advertising; some non-personalized ads may still appear where allowed.

We do not use your Student Lab notes, Studio content, or private account messages to build advertising profiles for sale.

We do not sell your data (California & global)

We do not sell personal information for money. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA, “sale” and “sharing” have specific meanings that can include certain advertising disclosures.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that position changes, we will update this policy and provide a clear “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control before any such sharing begins.

California residents may still exercise access, deletion, correction, and non-discrimination rights by emailing privacy@hackeronstreet.com with subject line “California Privacy Request”.

Encryption & security

We transmit the site over HTTPS/TLS so data is encrypted in transit between your browser and our servers/CDN (Cloudflare).

Secrets, authentication tokens, and passwords are handled with industry-standard protections (e.g. hashed passwords, signed session cookies, access-controlled storage). Infrastructure providers may encrypt data at rest.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Report suspected vulnerabilities via /submit-bug or contact@hackeronstreet.com.

Processors & sharing

We use service providers under contract (or equivalent terms) to host and operate the site — for example Cloudflare (edge hosting, security, media storage), email delivery providers for auth/support messages, and Google (AdSense) when ads run.

We do not sell customer lists. We share data only with processors who need it to provide their service, when you ask us to, or when required by law (valid legal process).

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above: account data while the account is active and for a reasonable period after closure; support messages until resolved plus a short archive; security logs for a limited abuse-prevention window; and longer only where law requires.

Your rights (GDPR, California, and similar laws)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export your personal data; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

We respect rights relating to content and account data: you may request access to or deletion of personal data you submitted (including form messages and account profile data). Public blog comments or user-submitted content you posted may be removed or anonymized on valid request where feasible.

To exercise rights, email privacy@hackeronstreet.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 16 (or the age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child provided data, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

We and our processors may process data in the United States and other countries. Where GDPR applies, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or provider adequacy mechanisms) for transfers.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when laws, ads partners, or our practices change. The “Effective” date at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will be highlighted on this page or via a site notice.
